Palais Theatre, Heritage theatre in St Kilda, Melbourne, Australia
The Palais Theatre features Art Deco elements throughout its structure and remains the largest seated theatre in Australia with 2,896 seats.
The current building, designed by architect Henry Eli White, opened in November 1927 after a fire destroyed the previous Palais Pictures structure.
The venue transformed from a cinema to a live performance space in the 1950s, hosting international artists and maintaining its role in Melbourne's entertainment scene.
Located near Luna Park, the theatre underwent a 20-million-dollar restoration in 2017 and continues operations under Live Nation management.
The Phillips brothers from Spokane, Washington established this theatre as part of an entertainment complex that includes the adjacent Luna Park amusement center.
