Willans Hill Miniature Railway, Rideable miniature railway in Wagga Wagga Botanic Gardens, Australia.
Willans Hill Miniature Railway is a rideable rail system that stretches over two kilometers through the Wagga Wagga Botanic Gardens with three separate routes connecting multiple stations. The tracks wind through wooded areas, cross bridges, and pass through tunnels that form a complete miniature landscape.
Raymond Catts established this miniature railway in 1978 as a gathering place for model railway enthusiasts in New South Wales. What began as one person's vision grew to become a popular meeting spot for the growing community of rail fans in the region.
The railway draws model train enthusiasts who gather here to share their passion for miniature rail systems. The annual Invitational Run in November brings visitors from across Australia to experience rides and spend time together around the trains.
The railway operates on the first and third Sundays of each month, so plan your visit accordingly. Closed footwear is required for all riders, and tickets are priced affordably for a journey through the gardens.
One special route called the Museum line travels beneath Lord Baden Powell Drive to connect with the Museum of the Riverina located nearby. This underground passage creates an unexpected link between the railway and another local attraction.
