Junee

Junee is a town in the Riverina district of New South Wales, located about 470 kilometers southwest of Sydney amid wheat fields and sheep farms. It serves as a regional transportation hub with historical ties to rail travel.

The town began in 1863 as Jewnee Junction and grew into a major railway center after the Great Southern Railway line was built in 1878. This railway connection shaped the place for generations to come.

The name comes from the Wiradjuri Aboriginal language, reflecting the indigenous people who lived on these lands before European arrival. This connection to the original inhabitants remains part of how locals and visitors understand the place.
