Cricket Captains' Walk, Bronze sculpture garden in Jubilee Park, Cootamundra, Australia
Cricket Captains' Walk is a bronze sculpture garden in Jubilee Park in Cootamundra featuring 42 busts of Australian Test Cricket Captains mounted on marble plinths along a pathway extending approximately 150 meters. The figures are arranged in sequence and form a continuous collection documenting the leadership of Australian cricket.
The collection began in 1998 when the first stage unveiled busts of notable players including Unaarrimin, Dave Gregory, and Bill Murdoch. Over time, additional busts were added to document the ongoing story of cricket leadership in Australia.
The sculptures honor Australian cricket leaders while recognizing Indigenous contributions through the inclusion of Unaarrimin's bust in the collection. Visitors experience a display that reflects different phases of the sport's development in the country.
The site is located on Wallendoon Street and is fully wheelchair accessible with free entry for all visitors. The grounds provide barbecue facilities, parking, and public restrooms for comfort during your visit.
Each bronze sculpture was crafted to capture the individual characteristics and distinctive features of the cricket captain, creating a permanent visual record of their faces. This attention to detail makes it possible to observe the personality of each captain as you walk the pathway.
