Established in 1858 as Christchurch Academy by St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, the institution moved to its current location in 1863 and became a public school in 1873.
The institution integrates Maori values of manaakitanga, whanaungatanga, aroha, and rangatiratanga into its educational framework to foster community connections.
Students can participate in more than 30 different clubs and activities, ranging from sports teams to academic groups and artistic endeavors.
