BATS Theatre, Performance venue in Mount Victoria, Wellington, New Zealand
BATS Theatre occupies a 1923 building at 1 Kent Terrace, featuring three performance spaces, a bar, and fixed seating for 86 people.
Founded in 1976 as Bane Austin Touring Society, the theater transformed into its current form in 1989 under Simon Bennett and Simon Elson's management.
The theater presents 60 to 70 seasons annually, with 80 percent of productions showcasing New Zealand works from emerging and established artists.
Located near Courtenay Place entertainment district, BATS Theatre operates Tuesday through Saturday with ticket prices averaging 16 New Zealand dollars.
Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh purchased the building in 2011, leading to extensive renovations that added two additional performance spaces.
