The Bucket Fountain, Kinetic fountain in Cuba Mall, Wellington, New Zealand.
The Bucket Fountain consists of graduated metal containers that fill with water and spill into lower levels before reaching the ground pool.
Graham Allardice designed the fountain in 1969 as part of Cuba Street's transformation into a pedestrian area, initially naming it Water Mobile.
The fountain evolved from a criticized structure to a cherished Wellington symbol, featured in local television shows and artistic performances.
Located at the center of Cuba Mall, the fountain operates daily and creates water patterns that extend several meters during strong winds.
Actor Elijah Wood climbed the fountain structure during the filming of The Lord of the Rings, leading to an unauthorized modification of its purpose.
