Hamilton Astronomical Society Observatory

The Hamilton Astronomical Society Observatory contains multiple telescopes, including a 600mm Classical Cassegrain and a 355mm Meade Schmidt Cassegrain for celestial observations.

The Hamilton Astronomical Society, established in 1933, constructed its first dedicated observatory building at the Hamilton Zoo site in 1984, marking a significant milestone.

The observatory hosts regular public viewing sessions twice monthly, enabling residents of the Waikato region to engage with astronomical science and celestial observations.

Visitors can access the observatory on the first and third Wednesdays of each month at 7:30 PM during standard time and 8:30 PM during daylight savings.

The observatory maintains a collection of specialized instruments, including a radio telescope and a Lunt 60mm Solar telescope for specific astronomical research.
