Sentinel

Sentinel is a 150-meter residential tower in Takapuna with 30 floors of glass-fronted apartments. The building contains 117 units with views of Waitematā Harbour, Lake Pupuke, and Rangitoto Island.

The building was completed in February 2008 as a major development project in the region. Its construction represented a significant milestone in Takapuna's residential tower building and was approved through a non-notified consent process.

The building's latticework details draw from traditional flax basket weaving, connecting modern design to New Zealand's craft heritage. Residents and visitors notice how these patterns reference local artistic practices in a contemporary tower.

The building is situated near Takapuna's shopping areas and beach, making it easy to access local services. The surrounding streets are walkable and offer good views of the harbor from public spaces nearby.

Every apartment features unusually high ceilings paired with floor-to-ceiling windows throughout. This design choice creates an impression of openness and allows views of both the ocean and the city from nearly every corner.
