Mallee Cliffs National Park extends over 57,969 hectares of red sand plains and linear dunes within the Wentworth Shire region of New South Wales.
The national park received protection status through two proclamations, first in April 1977 and later expanded in January 1983.
The land contains plant communities that demonstrate vegetation patterns resulting from environmental changes spanning hundreds of thousands of years.
Access to the park requires advance arrangements and remains limited to educational groups, research activities, and approved study visits.
The park functions as a feral predator-free sanctuary, supporting the recovery of extinct native mammals like the bilby through conservation programs.
