Lake Eyre basin, Lake system in Australia
The Lake Eyre basin is one of the largest endorheic basins in the world, covering about 1.2 million square kilometers.
The basin was named after Edward John Eyre, who was the first European to see Lake Eyre in 1840.
The area is home to many indigenous Australian groups who have lived there for thousands of years.
The lake is often dry and only fills with water a few times each century.
When full, Lake Eyre is the largest lake in Australia.
