Greater Blue Mountains Area, UNESCO World Heritage Site in Australia
The Greater Blue Mountains Area is a vast area of wilderness, home to the striking Three Sisters rock formation.
It was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2000 for its outstanding geographical features and rare fauna.
The area holds great significance for the Aboriginal Darug, Gundungurra, Wanaruah, Wiradjuri, Darkinjung and Tharawal people.
A popular tourist destination, visitors can explore the area through bushwalking, rock climbing, and camping.
It is also one of the largest and most intact eucalypt habitats in the world.
