Bridal Veil Falls, Leura, Cascade waterfall in Blue Mountains, Australia
Bridal Veil Falls is a cascade waterfall in the Blue Mountains west of Sydney that flows over sandstone cliffs into Jamison Valley below. It drops from about 880 meters above sea level, creating long white streams of water visible from the viewing area.
The Federal Pass walking track near the falls received heritage status for its role in early exploration of the Blue Mountains during the 1800s. This path marks one of the first routes established for people to travel through the mountain region.
The waterfall appears in Aboriginal narratives that explain how the Blue Mountains and its waterways formed, connecting visitors to the land through stories passed down over generations.
Access to the falls comes through a 954 meter return track along Cliff Drive that takes about 30 minutes to walk. Wear sturdy shoes as the sandstone surface can be slippery when wet, especially after rain.
The natural sandstone floor at the base of the lookout creates an elevated viewing platform from which visitors can see the falls from about 150 meters away. This stone formation allows for an unobstructed view across the valley without barriers blocking the sight line.
