African Lion Safari, Drive-through safari in Australia
The African Lion Safari was a large drive-through wildlife park in New South Wales where visitors drove their own cars through enclosures to observe lions in an open-range setting. The facility operated for more than twenty years before closing in 1991.
The park opened in 1968 and at its peak housed more than two hundred lions. It was a pioneering venture in bringing large-scale African animal exhibits to Australia and influenced how wildlife parks were designed.

The grounds were extensive, and exploring them by car took considerable time since visitors drove through multiple sections. Planning a visit during clear weather was advisable, and having a full fuel tank helped visitors complete the full route.
