Crown Hotel, Sydney

The Crown Hotel is a brick building situated at the corner of Elizabeth and Goulburn streets in central Sydney. Constructed in the early 1900s, it features decorative facades, pointed gables, and original doors and windows that have remained largely unchanged for many decades.

The building opened as a licensed hotel around 1909 and is one of only three hotels in Sydney built in this style from that period. Tooth & Co acquired the hotel in 1936, and it subsequently operated under various owners while becoming an important gathering place for the local community seeking leisure and social connection.

The hotel exhibits an extensive collection of Australian contemporary art pieces throughout its public spaces, reflecting the creative spirit of New South Wales.
