The Plaza Theatre building features Mediterranean Revival architecture with a three-window Corinthian column loggia and decorated concrete details on its facade.
Opening in 1930 with Cecil B. DeMille's 'Dynamite', the Plaza Theatre contained 1,650 seats and displayed Australia's largest cinema screen measuring 75 by 35 feet.
During the mid-twentieth century, the Plaza Theatre served as a central entertainment location in Sydney, offering both films and live performances.
The former theatre structure at 600 George Street now houses retail establishments, including a McDonald's restaurant within sections of the original foyer.
The building's exterior incorporates rough cast stucco brickwork, decorated ceiling beams, Spanish patterns, and colored floral motifs that remain visible today.
