No. 208 Radar Station RAAF, Military radar station in Catherine Hill Bay, Australia

The No. 208 Radar Station consists of two concrete foundations that supported 44-meter timber aerial towers and two igloo-shaped concrete bunkers overlooking the ocean.

Established in February 1943, this Royal Australian Air Force radar facility monitored enemy aircraft movements during World War II as part of the Advanced Chain Overseas network.

The station employed both male RAAF members and female WAAAF personnel, marking a significant step in women's participation in Australian military operations.

The facility operated with 41 staff members at establishment, utilizing landline and radio telephone communications to relay radar data to the Fighter Unit in Newcastle.

The radar station required substantial electrical power for operations, with a dedicated bunker housing backup generators to maintain continuous monitoring capabilities.
