No. 208 Radar Station RAAF

No. 208 Radar Station sits on two concrete foundations that once supported 44-meter timber aerial towers, along with two igloo-shaped concrete bunkers perched above the coastline. The structures were positioned to monitor both sea and sky across the surrounding waters.

Established in February 1943, this Royal Australian Air Force radar facility monitored enemy aircraft during World War II as part of the Advanced Chain Overseas network. The station played a critical role in air defense operations along Australia's eastern coastline.

The station employed both male RAAF members and female WAAAF personnel, marking a significant milestone in women's participation in Australian military operations.
