St Mary's the Virgin Anglican Church

St Mary's the Virgin Anglican Church features a stone tower, clerestory over the nave, and lower roofs over the aisles with detailed stone craftsmanship.

The foundation stone was laid in 1860, and the church opened for services in 1867, with architect Edmund Blacket designing it to replace an 1843 structure.

The church maintains regular Anglican services and community gatherings, serving as a central religious institution for the Maitland region since the nineteenth century.

Located at 66 Church Street in Maitland, the church received restoration funding of $119,464 in 2006 for tower repairs and stonework maintenance.

The church interior accommodates 700 parishioners, while its grounds contain mature trees and an Italianate rectory with cast iron columns and decorative friezes.
