Dorrigo Steam Railway and Museum

The Dorrigo Steam Railway and Museum maintains 75 locomotives, 19 railmotors, and 280 carriages across its extensive New South Wales property.

Established in 1973 after the closure of Glenreagh to Dorrigo branch line, the museum acquired railway vehicles from both government and private operators dating from 1878.

Dedicated volunteers preserve and restore steam locomotives, diesel engines, and rolling stock to educate visitors about Australian railway transportation methods.

The museum contains static displays of passenger locomotives, goods engines, and various railway equipment, though public access remains restricted during preservation work.

This collection represents the largest assemblage of railway locomotives and carriages worldwide, featuring machinery from manufacturers like Beyer, Peacock & Company.
