Pringle Cottage, Heritage-listed sandstone cottage in Warwick, Australia
Pringle Cottage is a two-story sandstone dwelling in Warwick, Queensland, featuring a rectangular layout with a separate kitchen wing. An eastern verandah and gabled roof, partially concealed by a stone parapet, form the main architectural elements of the structure.
John McCulloch, a local stonemason responsible for many of Warwick's buildings, constructed this residence during the 1860s or 1870s as his own home. The cottage represents the craftsmanship of this prominent local builder from that era.
The cottage served as a private school operated by Mrs. F.S. Pringle and her daughter between 1898 and 1905, educating local children on the upper level. This educational purpose gave the building a special role in the community during those years.
The cottage is located at 81 Dragon Street and is maintained by the Warwick and District Historical Society for public visits. Visitors can view the preserved interior and learn about the building's historical features during a tour.
The interior preserves original Victorian-era elements including cast iron fire grilles and early chimney pieces throughout the rooms. One upper floor room retains its original patterned floral carpet, offering a glimpse into domestic life from that period.
