Deepwater National Park

Deepwater National Park is a nature reserve stretching along Queensland's coast with sandy beaches, freshwater creeks, and eucalyptus woodlands. The park protects diverse plant and animal species that thrive in this coastal environment.

Queensland's Department of National Parks established this protected area in 2001. The creation aimed to preserve coastal habitats and support long-term wildlife conservation.

The park represents a significant ecological site where visitors can observe traditional Australian wildlife including wallabies, emus, and various coastal birds.

Visitors need a four-wheel drive vehicle to access the park as the terrain requires this type of transport. Camping spots are scattered throughout the area for those wanting to stay overnight.

Wreck Rock Beach is one of Australia's major nesting sites for loggerhead turtles on the mainland. These sea turtles return to this shore regularly to lay their eggs.
