The station served as Rockhampton's central transport hub until the 1920s, facilitating the expansion of Queensland's railway network and regional development.
Through digital soundscapes and life-sized mannequins, the museum recreates the daily activities and conversations of railway workers and passengers from the World War II period.
The museum operates Sunday mornings and Monday through Thursday, offering guided tours, a tea room, and accessible facilities for visitors with mobility requirements.
The museum houses the last remaining Purrey Steam Tram in operation, reconstructed from original parts of Rockhampton's 1909-1939 tram fleet.
