The Walter Reid Community Arts Centre occupies a three-story masonry building with horizontal recesses, a deep cornice, and decorative flagpoles on East Street.
Built between 1900 and 1902 by Dennis Kelleher, the structure served as Queensland's largest mercantile store, supporting Rockhampton's port activities along the Fitzroy River.
The center includes gallery spaces, studios, and performance venues where local artists create pottery, woodwork, photography, and participate in rail modeling activities.
The facility opens Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM, Saturday from 8:30 AM to 9:00 PM, and Sunday from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
The building maintains its original cement render façade and basement structure from its warehouse days, while functioning as a modern community arts facility.
