Isle of Pines, Pacific island in South Province, New Caledonia.

The Isle of Pines extends 18 kilometers in length and 14 kilometers in width, featuring white sand beaches bordered by native columnar pine trees.

Captain James Cook first encountered the island in 1774, and it later became a French penal colony in 1872 for political deportees from the Paris Commune.

The indigenous Melanesian Kanak people refer to the island as Kunyié and maintain their traditional practices through local markets and community gatherings.

Regular flights and ferry services connect the island to Noumea, with the journey taking 20 minutes by air or 2.5 hours by sea.

The Natural Pool, formed by an ancient coral formation, contains numerous fish species and sits protected from ocean waves by a natural rock barrier.
