Hickam Field, Air base in Pearl Harbor, United States
Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam spans across 2,600 acres of land, operating multiple runways shared with Daniel K. Inouye International Airport.
The military facility, established in 1938 and named after Lieutenant Colonel Horace Meek Hickam, endured significant damage during the December 1941 Pearl Harbor attack.
The Art Deco architecture throughout the base reflects the 1930s military construction style, incorporating traditional Hawaiian design elements in many structures.
The base maintains extensive maintenance facilities for aircraft and ships, while providing housing and services for over 50,000 military personnel and families.
The 2010 merger created the first joint Navy-Air Force base in the United States, combining two major military installations into one operational command.
