Aloha Tower, Historic observation tower at Honolulu Harbor, Hawaii, United States.
This 56-meter tall observation tower stands prominently at Pier 9 of Honolulu Harbor, featuring Late Gothic Revival and Art Deco architectural elements designed by Arthur L. Reynolds.
Constructed and officially opened on September 11, 1926, the tower served as Hawaii's tallest structure for four decades and functioned as an operational lighthouse guiding ships into Honolulu Harbor.
The tower became a symbol of Hawaiian hospitality, welcoming immigrants and visitors arriving by ship during the era when ocean travel was the primary means of reaching the islands.
Listed on the National Register of Historic Places since May 13, 1976, the tower currently houses Hawaii Pacific University facilities and offers public access to its observation deck with harbor views.
During World War II, Coast Guardsmen from the USCGC Taney were positioned around the tower for security, and it was painted in camouflage to preserve its visibility at night.
