Laie Hawaii Temple

The white stone temple stands on the northeast shore of Oahu island, half a mile from the Pacific Ocean and 35 miles from Honolulu.

The temple opened in 1919 as the first Mormon temple built outside continental United States, following a groundbreaking ceremony in February 1916.

The temple maintains close connections with Brigham Young University Hawaii and the Polynesian Cultural Center, forming a significant religious complex in Laie.

The temple includes a distribution center for religious garments, wheelchair accessibility features, and multilingual endowment presentations for international visitors.

The exterior walls incorporate crushed lava rock and coral from the surrounding area, reflecting local Hawaiian building materials in its construction.
