Ventura Pier, pier in Ventura

Ventura Pier is a wooden structure extending into the ocean and stands as one of California's oldest piers, built with weathered timber and a simple open design. It offers views of the water and Channel Islands, features benches and interpretive panels about local history, and is accompanied by dining options and a gift shop nearby.

Built in 1872 as Ventura Wharf, this pier originally served as a shipping hub for agricultural products, oil, and construction materials that helped the town prosper. A major renovation in 1993 restored its original character, while community efforts since then have focused on preserving this historic structure for future generations.

The pier represents Ventura's deep connection to the water and its maritime heritage, serving as a gathering place where locals and visitors connect with the town's origins. Today, it hosts community events like Pier Under the Stars, where residents and guests enjoy local food, wine, and live music along the waterfront.

The pier is open daily from early morning until late evening, with convenient parking areas nearby for easy access. Wide walkways and benches make it accessible for visitors of all ages, while restrooms and dining facilities are available on or near the pier for added comfort.

Each year, the pier hosts Pier Under the Stars, an event where over 800 residents and guests gather for local food, wine tastings, and live music along the waterfront. The silent auction held during this event raises funds directly to support the pier's ongoing care and preservation efforts.
