Silverado Park is an urban green space of about 12 acres with multiple sports fields for baseball and soccer, along with courts for basketball and tennis. The site also features an indoor heated swimming pool and a community center for various activities and classes.

Silverado Park was built in the 1930s under the auspices of the Works Progress Administration, the New Deal agency that funded public works during the Great Depression. The 11.8-acre site in Long Beach's West-Side area dates from that federal construction program rather than from any earlier estate.

The park's name comes from the Silverado area of Long Beach's West Side, and its 11.8 acres serve as the neighbourhood's open ground. A children's Christmas party has been held here, one of the community events that mark the calendar. In 2005 CSULB biologists studied house finches in the park as part of research on the birds in heavily urbanized settings.

The indoor pool is heated year-round and offers different activities from lap swimming to water exercise classes for all fitness levels. The facilities are easily accessible with parking available on site.

A Wing Chun training dummy stands in the park, providing martial arts practitioners with specialized equipment for developing their techniques. This unusual addition reflects the diverse interests and backgrounds of people who use the space.
