Parker Center, Police administration building in Downtown Los Angeles, United States.
Parker Center is an eight-story building with reinforced concrete construction, aluminum windows, and extensive glass panels in a minimalist design. The structure combines functional architecture with generous glazing that gives the building an open appearance.
The building served as the Los Angeles Police Department headquarters from 1955 to 2009. It was named in 1966 after LAPD Chief William H. Parker, who shaped modern policing in the city.
The building displays a bronze sculpture called The American Family and features a mosaic with Los Angeles landmarks created by artist Joseph Young.
The building housed specialized police departments with detention areas featuring tempered glass and early computer systems. These facilities reflected the technological standards that were modern when the building opened.
The site served as a filming location for television and film productions including the series Dragnet and Columbo. These media appearances made the building a recognizable symbol of law enforcement in Hollywood productions.
