The San Diego Hall of Champions occupied a 6,500 m² space in the Federal Building in Balboa Park until June 2017, when it closed. It was the largest multi-sport museum in the United States, covering more than forty-two sports. Its Breitbard Hall of Fame, founded in 1953 by Robert Breitbard, moved to Petco Park.

The Breitbard Hall of Fame, the core of the museum, was established in 1953 by Robert Breitbard. The museum occupied a 6,500 m² space in the Balboa Park federal building and was recognized as the largest multi-sport museum in the United States. It closed in June 2017, and the hall of fame moved to Petco Park.

The Breitbard Hall of Fame, established by Robert Breitbard in 1953, inducts new members each February at the Salute to the Champions dinner. Inductees must have excelled in San Diego sport or be San Diego natives who excelled elsewhere; by 2021 it counted 163 athletes across 22 sports, from archery to wrestling.

The museum closed in June 2017, so there is no visiting it today; the Breitbard Hall of Fame it housed moved to Petco Park. The former site was the Federal Building in Balboa Park, a 6,500 m² space. To see the inductees' plaques, go to Petco Park instead.
