Ballast Point Brewing Company, Beer brewery in San Diego, California, US.
Ballast Point Brewing Company is a beer brewery in San Diego, California, with a production facility covering about 107,000 square feet in the Miramar neighborhood. The space includes several tasting areas where visitors can sample different beers, along with separate zones for private events.
The brewery began in 1996 as a small shop called Home Brew Mart, selling equipment and ingredients for home brewers. By 2015 it had grown into the second-largest brewery in San Diego County and was acquired that year by Constellation Brands.
The facility uses two large copper kettles imported directly from Germany, visible during tours through the production areas. These traditional vessels sit alongside modern fermentation tanks, showing a connection between old-world craft and new brewing techniques.
Tours of the production facilities are available and give insight into the steps of brewing. The tasting rooms are open most days, and spaces can be reserved for private gatherings or celebrations.
Kings and Convicts Brewing acquired the brewery in 2019, starting a new phase in company ownership. Before that, Constellation Brands had bought the facility in 2015 for one billion dollars, one of the highest prices in the American craft beer industry at the time.
