Bullring by the Sea, First-class bullring in Playas de Tijuana, Tijuana, Mexico.
The Bullring by the Sea is a large arena in Playas de Tijuana built to hold more than 21,000 spectators, situated one block from the Pacific Ocean. The venue features a circular design with stepped seating arranged around a central sand-covered ring approximately 200 feet (60 meters) in diameter.
The arena opened in 1960 and was constructed in just 90 days using prefabricated concrete blocks manufactured in San Diego and assembled on site. This rapid building method was unusual for that era and made it a notable engineering achievement for the region.
The venue takes its name from its seaside setting near the border. It serves as a gathering place where locals and visitors experience both traditional events and modern entertainment in a shared public space.
The venue sits near the ocean and the United States border with ample parking and basic amenities available for visitors. Those attending events should expect large crowds, as the space regularly draws thousands of people from both sides of the border.
When it first opened, this venue ranked among the world's largest bullrings, but its purpose has shifted dramatically over time. Today it primarily hosts concerts, boxing matches, and sports events as public interest in traditional bullfighting has declined significantly.
