Caliente Stadium, football (soccer) stadium at Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico, home venue for Club Tijuana
Caliente Stadium is a football ground in Tijuana whose pitch is artificial turf, the only one in Mexico's top division. Its stands are filled with fans in red, and above the far end rise red structures with the words "TECATE" and "MEXICO". The stadium is still being expanded toward a final capacity of 33,333.
Opened in November 2007 on the former Agua Caliente racetrack, the stadium was built for owner Jorge Hank Rhon so Tijuana could have a professional club; the Mexican federation requires top-flight grounds to hold over 15,000. Architect Héctor Troncoso-Párraga led the design, and promotion was secured in 2011 after Club Tijuana beat Freseros de Irapuato.
The stadium sits on the former Agua Caliente racetrack grounds, across the Tijuana River from the Mexico–United States border. Construction has continued in phases since 2007, so parts of the site, including the south end and the second box zone with 33 luxury suites, may be closed off. The pitch is artificial turf, the only one used in Mexico's top division.
