San Ysidro Port of Entry

San Ysidro Port of Entry is a border checkpoint between San Diego and Tijuana at the frontier separating the United States and Mexico. The facility spans several levels and includes separate zones for vehicles and pedestrians, using modern processing technology.

The crossing was established in the 20th century on the southern border of California to regulate movement between both countries. Over the decades, the facility was expanded and upgraded with modern technology to meet growing demands.

This port serves as a meeting point where communities from both sides of the border engage in commerce, family reunions, and cultural exchanges.

The facility operates around the clock every day and offers multiple vehicle lanes along with dedicated pedestrian areas. Wait times can vary depending on the time of day and day of week, especially during morning and evening rush hours.

The building uses passive cooling systems to lower temperatures in waiting areas naturally. Rooftop solar collectors supply part of the energy needed for daily operations.
