La Mirada

La Mirada is a residential city in Los Angeles County, southern California. It covers roughly 8 square miles (21 square kilometers) with parks, schools, and neighborhoods designed for family living.

Andrew McNally bought land here in 1888 and built Windermere Ranch on the old Rancho Los Coyotes. The area later became a planned community for families moving out from central Los Angeles.

The La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts presents theatrical productions and concerts throughout the year, enriching the local entertainment scene.

The city sits near major freeways that lead to Los Angeles and Anaheim. Public buses connect it with other parts of the wider metropolitan area.

The local aquatic center has a pirate theme with slides and play areas designed for children. It draws families from across the surrounding communities on warm days.
