Phoenix–Mesa Gateway Airport, Regional airport in Mesa, United States.
Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport is an airport in southeastern Mesa, Arizona, handling scheduled passenger flights and general aviation. The facility covers roughly 3,000 acres with three paved runways.
The site opened as Higley Field in 1941 and was renamed Williams Field the following year. During World War II it served as a training center for military pilots.
The airport bears the name of First Lieutenant Charles Linton Williams, an Arizona native who lost his life during military service.
Car rental desks, taxis, and shuttle services connect the terminal to the city. Main access roads lead directly to parking areas.
An expansion project called Gateway 2030 plans a new terminal complex on roughly 700 acres in the eastern section. This phase aims to increase passenger capacity significantly.
