Belgian architect Agustín Goovaerts designed this religious structure in 1923, and construction continued until its completion in 1941 under Félix Mejía y Cia.
The church received recognition as a National Monument of Colombia in 1998, marking its lasting influence on the architectural heritage of Medellín.
Located two blocks from Cisneros metro station on Line B, the church opens daily until 2:30 PM and welcomes visitors for religious services and architectural tours.
The church's construction aimed to transform an industrial zone into a residential area, yet the neighborhood maintains its commercial character to this day.
