Aguachica is a municipality in Cesar Department, Colombia, located between the Magdalena Medio valley and the Motilones region. The area sits at about 162 meters elevation, with diverse terrain that includes river plains and transitions to hilly areas.
The municipality was founded in 1748 and grew from the Hacienda de San Roque, which was previously home to Chimila peoples. Over time, the settlement developed into a trading center for the region.
