Aguachica, Commercial hub in Cesar Department, Colombia
The municipality of Aguachica spans across 877 square kilometers at an elevation of 162 meters between the Magdalena Medio valley and Motilones region.
Established in 1748 by Jose Lazaro de Rivera, Aguachica developed from the Hacienda de San Roque settlement, previously inhabited by Chimila tribes.
The Eladio Vargas Cultural Center maintains documents and artifacts that represent the traditions and development of the local population through exhibitions.
The municipality connects to major cities through the Ruta del Sol highway network, Hacaritama Airport, railway system, and the port of Gamarra.
The Agüil Forest reserve contains 40 butterfly species and 88 bird species within its protected 8-hectare natural environment.
