Alto Vista Chapel

Alto Vista Chapel is a small house of worship situated on a hilltop near Noord with a distinctive bright yellow exterior and white cross. The simple structure features wooden shutters and windows that face the Caribbean Sea below.

A Spanish missionary founded the original chapel in 1750 as the first Catholic church built on the island. The structure has been maintained and repaired over the centuries to preserve it until today.

The chapel serves as a gathering place where local Catholics and visitors come to worship and reflect. The pathway lined with crosses leading to the entrance creates a meditative experience that reinforces the site's spiritual role in the community.

The chapel sits at an elevation, so comfortable shoes and water are recommended for your visit. A large parking area near the entrance makes arrival straightforward, and the walking path to the chapel is clearly marked with white crosses.

The interior is furnished simply with wooden benches and religious statues that reflect its modest purpose. Tall windows allow daylight to fill the space and offer views of the surrounding landscape, creating a connection between the inside and the world outside.
