Remojadas

Remojadas is an archaeological site in Veracruz containing excavated residential complexes with large ceremonial platforms and ancient stone structures scattered across the landscape. Most artifacts discovered here are now displayed in regional museums, while certain areas remain restricted for ongoing research.

The settlement developed and flourished between 100 BCE and 800 CE as a major center of the Classic Veracruz culture on Mexico's Gulf Coast. During this period, the place reached its greatest prosperity and cultural importance before gradual decline.

The people of Remojadas created thousands of ceramic figurines showing gods, rulers, and everyday people with distinctive filed teeth and elaborate clothing. These objects reveal how artists viewed their society and spiritual world.

The site sits in a rural agricultural area, so expect uneven walking surfaces across open terrain. Bring water and sun protection, as the location has little natural shade available.

Rare wheeled animal figurines were discovered at this location, representing one of the few examples of wheel technology in Mesoamerica. These finds suggest the residents possessed advanced crafting techniques.
