Presidio La Bahía, Military museum in Goliad, United States
Presidio La Bahía stands as a stone fortress with thick walls, guard towers, and a central courtyard containing the Our Lady of Loreto Chapel.
Constructed in 1749 on the San Antonio River, the fort served as a strategic military outpost during Spanish colonial rule and the Texas Revolution.
The Our Lady of Loreto Chapel features a groin vaulted ceiling from the 1700s and a 1946 fresco created by Antonio Garcia behind the altar.
The museum opens daily from 10 AM to 5 PM, with guided tours explaining military operations and displays of original Spanish colonial artifacts.
Visitors can spend the night inside the officers quarters of this Spanish colonial fort, one of the few remaining in North America.
