SeaWorld San Antonio, Marine theme park in San Antonio, United States
SeaWorld San Antonio is a marine animal park in Texas that combines aquariums, roller coasters, and animal encounters across roughly 100 hectares (250 acres) of land. The facility divides into themed zones with pools for dolphins, orcas, and sea lions, alongside rides and play areas for different age groups.
The park opened in 1988 as the third location in the SeaWorld chain across North America, expanding its roster of rides and aquariums since then. New roller coasters and animal areas joined over the decades, building on the original concept.
The name combines the words for sea and world, reflecting the mission to connect visitors with ocean life. Families often gather around dolphin and sea lion pools, where trainers accompany the animals during public presentations.
The entrance sits near large parking areas, and signage guides visitors through the different sections of the facility. On hot days, shaded rest zones and water features offer relief between attractions.
Wave Breaker runs directly over water surfaces and mimics rescue missions for marine animals while accelerating to 70 kilometers per hour (44 mph). Riders sit on seats resembling jet skis, following a route with tight turns just above the water.
