Wave Breaker: The Rescue Coaster is a double-launch steel roller coaster at SeaWorld San Antonio. Its track, 2,600 feet long and held up by 300 concrete pillars, stands 61 feet tall and reaches 44 mph. Trains shaped like jet skis run mostly just above the park's lake, crossing land only on a small artificial island.
Wave Breaker opened on June 16, 2017. To build it, SeaWorld partially drained the park lake using inflatable rubber dams that kept the rest of the water in place. During the park's annual January-to-late-February closure, the entrance area was re-themed, and construction updates were posted on YouTube.
The ride tells a story about saving marine animals, connecting the thrills to real conservation work that the park supports. Visitors experience how rescue missions inspire both entertainment and wildlife protection.
The coaster runs up to three trains, each seating 16 riders in eight rows of two, with lap restraints; capacity is about 886 riders per hour. The track is 2,600 feet long, reaching 61 feet and 44 mph, and most of it passes just above the park's lake, so riders cross water for much of the ride.
The ride features an original musical score blending electric and orchestral sounds, composed specifically for this experience by Rick McKee. The music works with the motion to tell a complete rescue story.
