Iron Rattler, Steel roller coaster at Six Flags Fiesta Texas, San Antonio, US
Iron Rattler is a hybrid roller coaster at Six Flags Fiesta Texas in San Antonio that climbs 179 feet (54 meters) and travels along a limestone cliff face. The ride combines steel rails with wooden elements in its overall structure and reaches speeds up to 70 miles per hour (113 kilometers per hour).
The original Rattler opened in 1992 as a wooden roller coaster at the park. In 2013, the ride was completely rebuilt with a steel track system, becoming a hybrid coaster that maintains the same general layout.
The roller coaster sits within Crackaxle Canyon section, reflecting the Western heritage of Texas through its design and surrounding theme elements.
Riders need to be at least 48 inches (1.22 meters) tall to board, and should be comfortable with secure restraints. The ride operates multiple trains throughout the day, which helps manage the flow of guests.
The roll element extends beyond the limestone cliff edge, with the track appearing to float over the drop. This daring design feature makes it one of the most recognizable aspects of the ride.
