Belton Lake, Reservoir in Bell County, US
Belton Lake extends across 12,385 acres on the Leon River, reaching depths of 124 feet with steep rocky shores and numerous fishing spots.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers constructed this reservoir in 1954 to control floods and supply drinking water to Belton and Temple communities.
Miller Springs Nature Center near the lake maintains 11 miles of trails through different ecosystems, connecting visitors with local wildlife and plants.
Multiple recreational areas including Cedar Ridge, Live Oak Ridge, and White Flint Park provide boat ramps, camping facilities, and picnic grounds.
The lake contains specialized fish habitat structures at four locations, supporting populations of largemouth bass, striped bass, and channel catfish.
