Pflugerville is a community in Travis County, Texas, located about 13 miles (21 kilometers) northeast of Austin on gently rolling terrain. Residential streets alternate with green spaces, shopping zones, and schools, connected by pathways and small creeks.
A German immigrant named Henry Pfluger bought land east of Austin in 1849 and started a settlement. The railroad arrival in the early 1900s brought new energy and turned the small village into a growing center.
The town name honors the Pfluger family who farmed the land in the mid-1800s. Today the area brings together residents from many backgrounds, reflected in local restaurants, shops, and neighborhood gatherings.
Most routes and schools are easiest reached by car or bicycle, as public transport options are limited. Walking and outings work best in parks along creeks, where shade and level paths are common.
