Lake Pflugerville, body of water

Lake Pflugerville is a large body of water near the city of Pflugerville in Texas, surrounded by parks and walking paths. It was created as a reservoir and features open lawns, shoreline trails, designated swimming areas, fishing spots, and places to rent boats and paddleboards.

The lake was created in the early 2000s to improve water management in the region and provide a recreational space for the community. Over time, it has become a central location for outdoor activities in Pflugerville.

The reservoir hosts KIDFish and the Lake Pflugerville Triathlon, two annual events that draw participants and spectators to its shoreline. The 3-mile granite hike and bike trail and the fishing piers give anglers and runners a shared setting, while kayak rentals and picnic pavilions in Lake Pflugerville Park, completed in 2010, support group outings.

The lake is easily accessible from the city and has parking areas along with facilities such as restrooms, picnic spots, and shelters. Conditions can vary depending on the season and water management practices, so visitors should plan accordingly.

The reservoir's water arrives through a 16-mile pipeline from the lower Colorado River, pumped uphill into the 180-acre basin. Zebra mussels have infested the lake and damaged membrane equipment at the city's water treatment plant. As of March 2022, the lake supplied 29,922 people through 9,974 connections.
