Church of Wells, Religious community in Wells, Texas, US
The Church of Wells is a religious community in East Texas where members live together in a compound and hold shared worship services throughout the week. The group operates a sawmill business and runs an R&R Mercantile store on their property.
Three former street preachers founded the group in 2011 after leaving Antioch Community Church in Waco. Sean Morris, Jacob Gardner, and Ryan Ringnald established the community's theological direction from its beginning.
Members follow a strict interpretation of Christianity, using only the King James Version Bible in worship. This practice shapes how the community lives and interacts with one another daily.
The community holds worship services multiple times weekly that are open to visitors at their location. Visitors should know that daily activities and religious gatherings take place on the same property.
In 2012, members chose extended prayer rather than medical care during a newborn's medical emergency. This event brought national attention to the community's practices.
