Allen

Allen is a city in Collin County in northern Texas with flat topography and a dense network of residential neighborhoods and shopping centers. Wide streets connect the different districts, while green spaces scatter along major routes.

The railroad company established a station at the current townsite in 1872, when trains began running through the area. The community grew slowly until formal incorporation in the mid-20th century and expanded rapidly from the 1980s onward.

The city name honors Ebenezer Allen, a state attorney from Kentucky whose family sold land to the railroad company. Residents today gather at the central park and sports centers, where youth teams and families stay active year-round.

Visitors reach most shops and facilities easily by car, as public transport options remain limited. Summer months bring high temperatures, so consider visiting air-conditioned buildings during the hottest part of the day.

The local fire department runs a children's safety program where families can tour equipment and learn fire prevention rules for free. This offering takes place regularly on selected Saturdays and attracts school classes and neighborhood groups.
